Start with scope and completion
Identify the website, collection date, questions, providers, repetitions, and successful coverage. Recommended, mentioned, and missed describe successful recorded responses. Failed, pending, and unavailable runs are not misses.
Read source relationships precisely
An explicit citation appears in the recorded answer. A returned source is supplied alongside a response. A searched source is recorded in search evidence. An owned source is assigned to the website’s ownership context. These labels are related but not interchangeable.
Compare carefully
Tracked and detected competitors are different sets. Trends are most useful when the target, questions, providers, and locale remain comparable. A manual consumer answer can differ because its model, search context, personalization, time, or location differs.
Neither one manual answer nor one controlled collection is universal ground truth. Use completed evidence to choose a bounded action.
