Connect Google Search Console
Connect read-only Google search data, choose the right property and hostname, and understand imports, reporting and reconnects.

Before you connect
Add your website to PB first. Use a Google account that can access its verified Search Console property. The property must cover the selected website; a URL-prefix property for a different hostname or a path-only property will not match.
This connection is rolling out to enabled accounts. Open the website in Sites and look for Data connections. Account access depends on the current plan and rollout; check your account’s limits if the option is unavailable. You do not need to change DNS or enable PB rendering to connect Search Console.
Connect and select the property
Open Sites → your website → Data connections → Connect Google. PB requests read-only Search Console access. Approve it only for the Google account you intend to use, then return to PB.
Choose the accessible Search Console property and the exact reporting hostname. For example, a Domain property can cover both example.com and www.example.com, but PB reports only the hostname you select. Other subdomains are not combined. PB discovers matching properties from Google; entering a domain alone does not grant access.
Choose Connect property to queue the initial import. If Google has no matching property, check the Google account, verified ownership or delegated permissions, and whether your property covers the complete hostname. You can reconnect using another Google account.
Wait for the first import
PB imports up to 90 finalized daily dates, including totals, leading pages and search queries. The first import can take several minutes. The setup view shows progress and updates while requests are pending; View Search reports opens the saved results.
Imports normally run daily. Refresh view reads PB’s saved data; it does not start a fresh Google collection. Sync data queues an import when due and does not repeatedly reload all history. The newest three dates are excluded, and the reporting calendar uses Pacific time. Incomplete imports are shown as incomplete, not zero traffic.
Read Performance and Opportunities
Open Search → Performance for clicks, impressions, click-through rate, average position, pages and queries. Choose one website and a reporting period. The same saved evidence is available in Simple and Advanced modes.
PB imports up to 500 page rows and 500 query rows per day and displays the leading 30 aggregated rows in each Performance list. These lists are bounded views, not a complete export. Google may withhold query details for privacy, so page/query lists need not add up to the summary.
Search → Opportunities suggests up to ten existing pages with recorded impressions that meet the displayed review criteria. These are candidates to investigate, not confirmed faults. Comparisons require matching complete reporting periods. Additional research estimates have their own availability and must not be treated as measured Google traffic.
Google search clicks, PB’s recorded crawler requests, human referral visits and AI-answer mentions or citations measure different things. Connecting GSC does not attribute a visit to a particular AI answer.
If status or totals disagree
First compare the same property, hostname, Web search type and dates. PB uses a page filter and by-page aggregation; unfiltered Domain-property totals in Google can differ. Check the last import and imported-day coverage before interpreting a difference. Do not treat missing rows as proof of no traffic.
Google indexing observations describe Google’s saved indexed version, which can be older than your current website. Inspect page reads that observation; it does not request indexing or run a live Google test. PB’s Health and page checks inspect a separate response at their own recorded time.
Reconnect, disconnect and data handling
If Google permission expires or is revoked, PB keeps saved observations and asks you to reconnect. A temporary import failure also retains previous results. After reconnecting, select the property and hostname again; the new authorization’s import may need to complete before results return.
Disconnect removes PB’s saved credentials, cancels pending work and stops new imports. Existing observations remain under the retention policy. To revoke Google’s grant as well, remove PB in your Google account’s third-party connections. Deleting the PB site or account removes its related connection records through PB’s deletion flow.
PB stores encrypted connection credentials and scoped report/inspection observations. Saved observations are retained for up to 90 days. Connecting, importing and viewing these Search reports does not automatically run AI analysis or change website content, sitemaps or indexing settings. An explicitly requested analysis through an enabled AI feature can involve its configured provider, as described in the Privacy Policy. Read the Privacy Policy and data-processing overview.
